Helping High Achievers Break the Cycle of Depression and Burnout

In a city that rewards constant output, depression can hide behind a full schedule. It doesn't always look like sadness, sometimes it looks like going through the motions, losing interest in things that used to matter, or feeling disconnected from your own life even when everything looks fine from the outside.

At Cognitive Reset Counseling  we offer online depression therapy tailored to the needs of NYC and Brooklyn professionals. With the right support, you can move through this and feel like yourself again.

TAILORED TO YOU

A Personalized Approach to Depression Treatment

Body: We know depression isn't one-size-fits-all, especially for people used to pushing through and performing at a high level.

Whether you're dealing with low energy, loss of motivation, or a persistent sense of numbness, depression can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, and unlike yourself.

We help you understand what's really going on beneath the surface and build lasting strategies for change.

Silhouette In Prayer

Our Brain-Body-Mind Approach to Depression Treatment

We take a whole-person approach to depression and mood, blending proven talk therapy techniques with advanced tools that support both your mental and physical well-being.

Our brain-based and body-centered methods will help you feel more energized, grounded, and in control. Our services include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Shift the thought patterns that fuel low mood and self-criticism.

  • Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions built around your specific history and goals.

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Learn to stay present and reconnect with your day-to-day experience. (no link, mindfulness isn't its own page yet, will link to the DBT pillar page once mindfulness folds in there, hold until DBT is live)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Build emotional regulation and stronger coping skills.

  • Somatic Therapy: Reconnect with the body and address the numbness or shutdown that often accompanies depression, offered by therapists with this specialization.

  • Brain Mapping: Understand what's happening in your brain and track progress over time.

  • Breathwork (HeartMath HRV): Use biofeedback techniques to build energy and regulation.

  • Brainspotting: Access and release stored trauma and emotional pain that may be contributing to depressive symptoms.

Depression Therapy at CRC is delivered through Individual Therapy sessions, tailored to your specific history and goals. Our goal is to help you feel more like yourself, reconnect with what matters to you, and move through depression with real support.

Brain Mapping is available in person at our Greenpoint Brooklyn office. Brainspotting is available for clients actively in therapy, whether with a CRC clinician or elsewhere. Somatic Therapy is offered by therapists with that specialization. All other modalities are available both in person and online across New York State.

UNDERSTANDING DEPRESSION

Depression Doesn't Always Look Like Sadness

Depression is not always obvious. For many people, especially high achievers, it shows up as exhaustion, irritability, or a flatness that's hard to name. It can look like going through the motions, losing interest in things you used to enjoy, or feeling like you're watching your own life from a distance.

It also isn't one single experience, it shows up differently depending on the person. Some of the most common forms we treat include:

  • Major Depressive Disorder: persistent low mood, loss of interest, and fatigue that affects daily functioning

  • Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia): a longer-term, lower-grade depression that can feel like your baseline

  • Situational Depression: depression tied to a specific event, transition, or period of stress

  • High-Functioning Depression: looking capable and put-together on the outside while struggling internally, common among high achievers and entrepreneurs

For performers and creatives, depression often shows up as creative burnout or a loss of connection to work that used to feel meaningful. For entrepreneurs, it can look like going through the motions of running a business without the drive that used to fuel it.

If depression has started alongside anxiety, racing thoughts, or a constant undercurrent of worry, that's common too. Anxiety and depression often show up together or one can lead into the other. Our clinicians treat both, and we'll help you understand what's happening beneath the surface.

These are not character flaws. They are nervous system responses that made sense at some point and now need updating.

How Your Treatment Plan Comes Together

Our approach starts with understanding what is driving your depression, not just managing the symptoms. We use a combination of evidence-based talk therapy and brain-body-mind tools to help you regulate your nervous system, shift the thought patterns that keep depression running, and rebuild a sense of energy and connection.

Your clinician will work with you to determine which combination of approaches fits your history, your goals, and where you are right now. There is no one-size-fits-all protocol. Treatment is built around you.

Sessions are available in person at our Greenpoint Brooklyn office and online across New York State. We work with your schedule, your goals, and your pace.

OUR APPROACH

What to Expect From Your First Sessions

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. This is not a therapy session. It is a conversation where you can ask questions, share what you are dealing with, and get a sense of whether CRC is the right fit. There is no pressure and no commitment.

If we move forward, your first full session is an evaluation. Your clinician will ask about your history, your current symptoms, and your goals. From there we build a treatment plan together.

Most clients begin to notice shifts within the first few sessions. The deeper work takes longer, and that is normal. What you can expect is a clear direction, practical tools from the first session, and a clinician who understands the specific pressures of creative and entrepreneurial life in New York and Brooklyn.

Therapist and Client

Who We Work With at Cognitive Reset Counseling

CRC was built for people whose lives don't fit the standard therapy mold. Our clients are performers navigating the exhaustion and disconnection that can follow years of audition culture, rejection, and the pressure to always be on. They are musicians, dancers, actors, and content creators who love what they do and have lost touch with why. If you've wondered when it's time to get support, we've written about that specifically for performers, we've written about that specifically for performers.

They are also entrepreneurs and founders who are running on empty while building something meaningful, carrying financial uncertainty and isolation long after the initial drive has worn thin. Freelancers who feel like they're just going through the motions. Creatives who are talented at their work and numb to it outside of it. And they are athletes managing the letdown after performance, competition, and constant self-evaluation.

And they are adults who don't fit neatly into any of those categories but know that low motivation, numbness, or a sense of being stuck is getting in the way of the life they want to be living.

If you have ever felt like you are going through the motions of your own life, or like you have tried to think your way back to feeling like yourself and it hasn't worked, you are in the right place.
